Google Announces Its Plans To Launch 'Friend Connect' In an effort to join the field of social network data portability, Google has announced its plans to launch 'Friend Connect'. This feature will enable website owners to grow traffic by taking profile information from social networking websites and putting that information onto third party websites.

RIA Vendor Curl Shifts To Eclipse Rich Internet Application (RIA) vendor Curl, named InfoWorld's 2008 Technology of the Year in the RIA category, announced that they will be rebasing the Curl IDE on Eclipse. The Eclipse-based product, named Curl Development Tools for Eclipse (CDE) is expected to Beta in mid-2008.

Open Source BlueDragon In a move that has surprised some folks, New Atlanta has announced plans to create a free open source version of their J2EE BlueDragon product. They will continue to develop, sell and support a commercial version of it, as well as continuing the .NET version and the standalone JX version (neither of which will be open sourced).

A First Look At Grails There's still a lot of buzz about Ruby on Rails and I've played around with it but I really don't like the Ruby syntax. I've tried a few different Rails packages and just find the experience... clunky. Lots of people are very excited about Rails and Ruby in general, especially with JRuby (Ruby for Java) now running Rails.

Using CSS To Place Images Yellow post it notes are cool and a really good way to get someone's attention, don't you think? I had in my disposal the transparent png solution for IE using CSS so all I needed was a cool graphic and a way to position it anywhere on a page using just CSS.
